1- Jardín Surrealista de Edward James – San Luis Potosí
The Huasteca Potosina is a magical and fantastic zone in San Luis Potosi. It has a lot of eco-touristic activities for all the family. The Jardín Surrealista of Edward James is located near to the Magic Town of Xilitla. Entering in this place is like traveling into the world created by J.R.R. Tolkien in The Lord of the Rings.
2- Cañón del Sumidero – Chiapas
Nature can create fantastic landscapes. One of them is the Cañón del Sumidero, in Chiapas. You can paddle through the Grijalva river surrounded by its walls of 4,300 ft high.
Sadly, the pollution had severely affected the ecosystem and the beauty of this canyon; nevertheless, it is still amazing being surrounded by its amazing rock walls, caves, and waterfalls.
3- Cerro de la Bufa – Zacatecas
There’s a place in Mexico where you can admire its history from the top of a mountain, and it is called “Cerro de la Bufa” in Zacatecas. The first Spanish conquerors walked through its pads as well as Miguel Hidalgo, father of the Independence of Mexico. If this mountain could talk, it would have a lot of interesting and fantastic stories to tell you about our country.
4- Playa Delfines – Cancun
One of the greatest views of the Caribbean Sea is located in Cancun. Playa Delfines (Dolphins’ Beach) is located in the hotel zone, and since you arrive, it marvels you. Its viewpoint gives an extraordinary panoramic view where you can appreciate the different colors of the sea as you never imagined. You can spend a whole day at the fantastic beach but be careful with the sea, its currents are unpredictable.
5-Barrancas Del Cobre – Chihuahua
The last train for passengers in Mexico is now a touristic attraction, where you will be able to admire the enormous canyon styled by erosion through million years. Barrancas del Cobre are located in the heart of the Tarahumara mountains in Chihuahua.
6- Cerro del Tepozteco – Morelos
You can walk through an imposing mountain and reach a prehispanic building dedicated to the god of pulque in the top of it. The view of the Tepoztlan town from the top of the mountain is unforgettable and fantastic. If you are searching for a place full of peace and spiritual vibes this is it. Prepare yourself with enough water, the climb is complicated.
7- Hierve el Agua – Oaxaca
Imagine seeing a petrified waterfall from a thermal pool and then walk through an archaeological site of 2,500 years old. Well, you don’t have to imagine it… You can do it in Hierve el Agua in Oaxaca, a place dedicated to contemplating the work of nature through the years.
8- Cascadas de Tamul – San Luis Potosí
Another place in the Huasteca Potosina, the Tamul’s waterfalls are a fantastic fall of 340 ft high. To get there you will have to row through an amazing turquoise river in wood canoes. Relax and let nature enchant you.
9- Islas Marietas – Nayarit
The hidden beach of the Marietas islands was formed thanks to the erosion of the sea. It is a fantastic underground beach where you can only access by swimming. Words are not enough to describe it, you must see it with your own eyes.
10- Nevado De Toluca volcano – Estado de México
This extinct volcano is located in the Estado de Mexico. During the winter the snow covers it, and the rest of the year the crater converts into a lake. A paradise that you’ll keep in your memory the rest of your life.
11- Cascadas de Agua Azul – Chiapas
One of the most beautiful states in Mexico’s Chiapas, and it offers the Agua Azul waterfalls, a hidden paradise in the jungle. Here, you will be able to connect with nature by swimming in its turquoise water.
12- Cenotes- Yucatán
Every cenote has its own magic and mysticism. The natural beauty around them can impress everyone. So, it was tough for me to choose only one over the dozens existing all around Yucatan. They are all fantastic and amazing!
13- Lagunas de Monte Bello – Chiapas
This is the perfect destination to get in touch with nature. You can hike through the woods and kayak around the lakes. The gem of the crown is that every lake has its own color. Also, you will enjoy watching the beautiful and quiet lake.
14- Laguna de Bacalar – Quintana Roo
Also known as “the seven colors lagoon,” this is a perfect place for backpackers. Is impressive how easy you can find the seven tones of blue. You will need to rent a kayak and take a tour of the lake to appreciate every one of the colors. Also, there are some all-inclusive hotels and cheap hostels where you can camp by the lake.
15- Sótano de las Golondrinas – San Luis Potosí
One of the most beautiful natural places in Mexico! El sótano de Las Golondrinas (wood swallow cellar) is an abysm of 200 ft diameter and 1200 ft high. At sunset and sunrise, you can see thousands of birds enter or exit the cave, making impressive spirals. A unique show.
16- Prismas Basálticos – Hidalgo
Nature can do incredible things. These are rock formations with a perfect geometry, traced by the river during millions of years. Besides, the visitors of this fantastic place say that it has a unique and unexplainable vibe. You will have to prove it to yourself.
17- Mariposas Monarcas – Michoacán
The last days of October, a show invades the woods of Michoacan and Estado de Mexico. Entire communities of Monarch Butterflies composed for more than 20 million individuals, make their spectacular arrival to start the hibernation after a long trip. This show is indescribable, and only your eyes can judge it!
18- Árbol del Tule – Oaxaca
This tree has the biggest tree trunk in the world with a circumference of 150 ft and 140 ft high. Its shadow can cover almost 500 persons. Fantastic! Seeing it is impressive. We don’t know its precise age but is calculated about 2,000 years old.
19- Puente de Dios – San Luis Potosí
To reach the bridge of God, you have to swim through an underground river where only bats and the sound of the river will be with you. If you are afraid of darkness, you will have to beat it to discover the marvel beyond the cavern: a fantastic waterfall that will captivate you with its warm water and turquoise color. Impressive!
20- Peña de Bernal – Querétaro
This monolith is an enormous rock located in Queretaro. If you think about it, is like one piece of a mountain. There are pretty big things on our planet, and this is one of them. On its slopes is the Beltran town where you can eat delicious Mexican food.
21- Las Coloradas – Yucatán
A little harbor located in Yucatan that has a particular characteristic: a pink color given by the microorganisms that live in it and the salt level of the water. Every year, its flora and fauna attract more and more tourists. After all, would you miss the opportunity of seeing a pink sea?
22- Sian Ka’an – Quintana Roo
The ecological reserve of Sian Ka’an (“Gates to heaven” in Maya), is an impressive ecosystem ruled by trees of 100 ft high. In the touristic zone of Quintana Roo exists this oasis, a place to be one with nature completely away from technology.
